Dracut Memorial Project

“Every memorial in its time has a different goal.” Maya Lin (designer of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C.)

There are many memorials in Dracut that are so familiar to us that we forget to consider what they memorialize. They blend into the landscape and their purpose is defeated. On this page, we will collectively document the many memorials throughout town. For extra credit throughout the year, email a picture of a memorial in Dracut and a 4-8 sentence explanation of what is being memorialized. Each student should send in no more than two entries so there are opportunities for everyone. Some research may be required to fulfill this optional extra credit assignment. Once a memorial is posted on the site it can not be the subject for another student (so the earlier in the year you complete this, the easier it will be).
